:: christian education

At First Christian Church of Concord we see faith as a journey, not a point of arrival. Thus you will often hear us make reference to "faith development" rather than "education." To that end we offer a variety of programs, events and classes to enrich the participant's faith development through increasing knowledge of the Biblical story and deepening experience of how that story calls us to lives of faithfulness. We are a diverse congregation. It is a place where ALL are welcome, regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey. You and your family, from the youngest to the oldest, are invited to learn and grow together. Adults may participate in a number of offerings that range from creative approaches to Bible study to timely topical and issue oriented forums. Children and young people have a number of opportunities to learn and grow as well.

Don't check your brain at the door! We encourage diverse thoughts and questions so that we can learn from one another what it means to be faithful in our demanding culture. We don't claim to have the answers, but we will seek to give you the tools to discover insights into life's most intriguing issues. We welcome the opportunity to have you share your faith journey with us.

Classes for Adults are offered every Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

The Faith and Justice class explores the intersection of faith and justice in the real world. Always based on current events, recent topics for discussion have included the development of the former Concord Naval Weapons Station, the role of faith in protecting the environment, factory farming and sustainable agriculture, immigration, and the war in Iraq. This class meets in the church library and is facilitated by Rev. Gregory Hile.
