So, what is Miracle Day you ask? Miracle Day is like…
an Amish barn-raising ... but it’s the Disciples version where hundreds of Disciples descend on a Disciples church building to complete major projects to repair, rebuild, renovate, remodel, and renew that church building.
Habitat for Humanity ... except that the work is all done in one day and could include things like building a playground, painting the entire outside of the church building or rooms inside, remodeling bathrooms, tearing out walls, putting in new windows, totally new landscaping, etc. etc.
a local mission trip ... but it’s for all ages and skill levels. At the end of the day, you’ll feel like you have been helped more than those you helped!
a Disciples revival ... you will feel the Spirit of God flowing through the event; you’ll sense a recommitment to Jesus Christ, and you will bond with Disciples from across the Region in a way as never before.
Miracle Day has three major goals:
Physical work that renews a church building
Community work that bonds all the volunteers in common mission
Spiritual work where lives and faith are touched because volunteers have a new belief that God is still doing miracles in today’s world!!
Here’s how it all works:
-
The date was set — October 3, 2009. Click here for a Miracle Day 2009 flyer.
A Region wide Miracle Day Committee of 12 people has already been formed and is hard at work with initial preparations. You will be receiving lots and lots of information in coming months.
Every church in the Region is asked to support Miracle Day in many ways including through prayer, by having a Miracle Day Volunteer coordinator, and by sending volunteers to our mission sites.
-
The Miracle Day 2009 mission site is the Community of the Great Commission grounds in Foresthill, California.
Here's what awaits you at Miracle Day:
A lot of hard work!
Relationships with Disciples brothers and sisters deeper than you can imagine.
A wondrous awareness that NBA and Disciples communities share a common mission and Spirit. We are in this ministry together.
-
Miracles beget miracles ... it's like rabbits ... they just keep coming!
-
These miracles come in all shapes and sizes...big and little...personal and communal...physical and spiritual ... for young and old.
This will be a glorious experience on inter-racial, inter-cultural, inter-generational, inter-faith unity. We truly are God's family.
Whatever miracles you have in mind, go for them; but be aware that God has bigger ones!
-
These miracles don't start or end on Miracle Day. They aren't dependent on you, except for your openness to recognize them.
About the 15th time you recognize a new miracle, and you'll understand what a miraculous God we serve.
See Andie Raymond or stop by the Miracle Day table (starting September 6) to find out how you can help, fill out a volunteer form, buy a Miracle Day T-shirt and/or make a donation.
The last MIRACLE DAY was held on October 3, 2009. To order Miracle Day 2009 t-shirts (or other items) go to Cafe Press.
WE BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!
