Did you know that First Christian Church Concord has members who are active in foster care? You might say our church fosters a desire to help those in need.

Inverleith Fruci is president of the board of Alternative Family Services, which supports foster families and others, and Meg Sumowiec worked with Family Builders’ foster-to-adopt program to become Carter’s mom.

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, and Inverleith has organized a program after worship on May 31 to help us learn more about the vital services that foster care provides. Meg will be one of the speakers, telling about her experience as a foster -to -adopt parent. Other speakers include Thomas Whittington, a lead resource family recruiter for Alternative Family Services, and Matt Labrot, a long -time foster parent.

We also will have a delicious lunch, of course. The menu will include a variety of Hawaiian roll sliders, including a vegetarian option.
