Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be taking a mission trip in 2020. We hope to resume our mission trips in 2021. In the meantime, we are continuing to provide financial support for Amor Ministries to help them continue their important work.

About the Mexico Trip

The Mexico Mission trip is a life-changing week of service and fellowship that is like no other experience you’ve ever had.

Imagine camping under the stars, working hard all day in the hot sun, and experiencing the joy, humility, and satisfaction of serving a family in need. Building a house for an impoverished family while building relationships with new and old friends. Getting to know a family from a different culture while getting to know yourself better, too. It is a remarkable experience you won’t soon forget.

Getting there: On the Mexico Mission trip, high school students and adults travel by van to Tijuana, Mexico, to build houses for families living in poverty. By traveling to another country, participants are immersed in an environment that may look like nothing they have ever seen. The unfamiliar environment and hard work encourage trip participants to step out of their comfort zones, both physically and emotionally.

Building community: Throughout the trip, we foster growth within our own group by spending time together at the work site, during meals and around a campfire. We continually provide participants with opportunities to reflect on their experience through journaling, group discussions, and fellowship with each other.

Changing lives: The goal of the Mexico Mission trip is to ease the burden of poverty on families we serve while also instilling in trip participants a sense of perspective, humility, and gratitude about their own lives at home. We lead this life-changing experience  in partnership with AMOR Ministries, a San Diego-based organization devoted to providing homes for families in need.

How it works: Adults serve as directors, cooks, construction leaders, music leader, worship leader, and drivers. They also appoint youth and young adults to leadership roles so they can grow into future leaders in all aspects of their lives. Although adult sponsors are in charge, youth and adults work together as a team to accomplish the mission of the trip.

We have a structured schedule so we can meet our daily construction goals, and we close each evening around the campfire. We use hand tools (no power tools) — no prior experience is necessary. We work in the sun, so extreme care is taken ensure all participants' well-being.

What to bring: Participants bring tools, a good attitude, and a willingness to make a positive difference in this world in the name of Christ. A complete packing list is included in trip materials you will receive once registered.

Even if you cannot accompany us on the Mexico Mission, there are many ways to lend your support.

Paying for your trip

We want you to join us on this mission! We have fundraising materials to help you pay for your trip, and you should contact your pastor to see if church support is possible. Fundraisers and individual requests for donations have been very successful for past participants.

Here is a sample letter that can be sent to friends and family to ask for their support.

This donation brochure also can be used to request donations on your behalf.

Past participants have also used crowdsourcing fundraising tools (such as GoFundMe) with great success in the past.

If financial assistance is needed, please talk to your pastor and the trip director. Also, please ask the trip director and financial clerk about payment schedules if needed.
