Growing Edges: Focus Outwardly

For the early church, the importance of what they were doing centered on inviting people to experience what resurrection means in their own lives within a community of believers.

But we need to be careful about this whole notion of invitation––of what we are inviting people to.  For far too long the modern, contemporary church has been focused on inviting others to join us in what we are doing.  But ultimately, Pentecost reminds us that it is not about getting people to come to our buildings, participate in our programs, believe our creeds and support our institutions.  It is about going out and loving others where they are.
