August 10: Part 3: A Closer Walk with Thee
Psalm 63: 1-8
Jacob Perez, preaching
Life pulls us in many directions, from work to family to commitments and the constant noise around us. In the middle of all this, many of us long for something deeper, something that restores our souls. In Psalm 63, David writes with the language of intimacy, as someone who knows that God's love is not distant, but sustaining.
This week, we explore what it means to walk closer with God in a life-giving relationship that shapes how we live, love and see the world. We'll talk about how closeness with God is both personal and public. Our private devotion naturally flows into acts of compassion, justice, and inclusion. When we abide in God's love, we become more attuned to the needs of others, the beauty of creation, and the call to embody Christ's inclusive grace.
We'll consider practical ways to deepen this walk: building rhythms of prayer, engaging scripture with openness, practicing gratitude, and listening for God in both stillness and struggle. Psalm 63 invites us to make longing for God a regular component of our day, drawing us into joy, purpose and love.
