August 24: Part 4: Fellowship
Acts 2: 42-47
Jacob Perez, preaching
This Sunday we turn to the most beautiful outcome of the Pentecost story that is found in Acts 2. In just a few verses, the Bible describes a community deeply devoted to God and to one another: "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers... All who believed were together and had all things in common."
We'll reflect on what it means to belong to a congregation in today's world. Many of us know how easy it is to go through the motions of attending church without truly experiencing life together. Yet Acts reminds us that being part of Christ's body is not just about Sunday worship, it is about building relationships, sharing in one another's joys and struggles, and living with intentional care for our brothers and sisters in faith.
We'll explore two central ideas. First, the value of belonging. The early church grew in joy, strength, and numbers because people found a spiritual home where they were seen, supported and encouraged. Second, the responsibility of fellowship. True fellowship calls us to move beyond comfort and into commitment, bearing one another's burdens and working to ensure no one is left alone.
The invitation this week is to take a fresh step toward intentional connection. Fellowship is both a gift and a calling, and together we can embody the same spirit of love and generosity that marked the first believers.
Come ready to be inspired, challenged, and encouraged as we rediscover the joy of life together in Christ. See you Sunday, bring a friend!
