September 13, 2026: Forgiveness
Matthew 18: 21-35
Rev. Dr. Leslie Taylor, preaching
Sunday, September 13th is our Homecoming Sunday! A time to celebrate together, eat good food, laugh together, and refocus for our program year in the church. You will notice some changes, and I am ex- cited to share them quickly:
The order of worship will shift back to something more familiar.
Our band, The Way, has something special in store for us.
We have begun a midweek Bible Study/Reflection time called Midweek Manna. Join us in person in the Plambeck Room or on the worship Zoom link.
With all of this good stuff, it may feel like a weird week to talk about forgiveness, but here we are. We will address the following ideas:
Reframing the Ruler: From Sovereign Monarch to Intimate Abba
Citizenship in the Kindom: From Imperial Power to Shared Relationality
Forgiveness as Radical Debt -Clearing: The Absurdity of the Ledger
Communal Responsibility: Releasing the Hidden Prison
Stepping Into Abba's Freedom
Music this week:
Build My Life
Every Move I Make
Let the River Flow
Be Still
Water, Spirit, River, Grace
Amazing Grace (my chains are gone)
River of Mercy
